A man convicted of a crime has a much greater chance of preserving his marriage or cohabitation relationship if he serves his sentence at home with an electronic tag rather than in a prison.  This is revealed by the analysis in this paper, which compares the cases of 2,664 men who were convicted under the Danish penal code and served their sentences either before or after the introduction of electronic tagging in 2008 as an alternative to prison for persons over the age of 25.
