Book Launch: The Future of Family Life – Should We Call Off the Fertility Crisis?
A highly topical and much-debated issue in Denmark is whether the Danish population is at risk of dying out due to too few children being born. This is paradoxical considering that opportunities for assisted reproduction and diverse family forms, such as rainbow families, are better than ever before.
On 15 May 2025, the ROCKWOOL Foundation publishes a new book: What We Know About the Family and Its Significance for Society and Well-being. The book reviews 125 years of developments in Danish family life and presents brand new insights into fertility, the challenges of population projections, the situation of LGBT+ families, and the impact of fertility treatment and assisted reproduction on family formation and couple relationships.
At the book launch, the main findings from the book were presented, followed by a panel debate between family spokesperson Trine Bramsen (S) and family spokesperson Mai Villadsen (EL), taking as their point of departure the questions: Should we make it easier to become a parent? And how can we make it easier to be a parent?
